Bridging the Gap: Transforming Device Clinics with CV Remote Solution

To my fellow industry members, does the below scenario seem familiar?

You show up to a clinic with 20 patients (or more) scheduled in 15-minute time slots. The staff is nice, everyone is helpful, including the physicians, but you know when it comes to checking all these patients, it is just you. The staff breaks a little after noon for lunch, and the next patient doesn’t show up until 1:30, but you continue to work thru lunch. If that sounds familiar, which it did for me during my time in the field, I sure wish CV Remote Solutions was something I could have presented to these clinics.

Some days, it was all you could do to check a patient, print their paperwork, and walk them back to the front so that you could grab the next patient, without even being able to write up a report. That would come at the end of the clinic. No real opportunities to talk to patients about remote monitoring, help patients who may have been disconnected from their monitor, or even offer education on the benefits of remote monitoring. We definitely didn’t have access to the patient’s chart in the EMR, so those of you with a nursing background would be limited to simply the device in front of you and whatever the patient could recall about medications.

Throughout the country, this is all too often the case. However, it does not have to be that way. With the increasing acceptance of third-party remote monitoring, clinics like this can greatly improve the overall care of these patients while at the same time improving their overall experience. The use of third-party resources may offer financial and practical benefits for dealing with increased device clinic volume (1).

What can you do about this?

I’m familiar with all the device manufacturers, and I know that each of them has placed great significance on being as efficient as possible with the people you have on your teams. Like many of the offices that you are in and out of every day, you barely have enough people available to cover the day’s work. CV Remote Solutions can be a resource, not only to your customers and their patients, but to you!

Bringing solutions to your physicians and their clinic is part of the value you bring every day and is why you are a valued member of this industry. Now, we are at an inflection point where neither industry nor these device clinics can continue to keep up with swelling patient volumes, staff turnover and the long ramp-up time it takes to train people to manage device clinics. In my time with CV Remote Solutions, I have become much more aware of how rampant this occurrence is throughout the country. So many healthcare systems have no real solution on how to invest correctly and stabilize these clinics. A relationship between RM clinics and device manufacturers for bidirectional exchange of ideas for staff training, patient education, patient care services, and management of safety advisories and recalls is imperative (1).

That is where CV Remote Solutions can help. Our team of device clinicians have the most experience in the industry, many of whom were right where you are now. We meet the clinic right where they are – and can provide as much or as little support as they need.
